Abstract

Character education is now one of the main discourses in national policies in the field of character education. All learning and teaching activities in the State of Indonesia must refer to the implementation of character education. National Education functions to develop and assist the character and civilization of a dignified nation in the context of educating the nation. Aiming at the development of potential, students become human beings who believe in piety to Allah SWT, have noble character, are healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent and become democratic and responsible citizens. Islamic character education for students in the millennial era is absolutely necessary, because students are national assets who are agents of change and future leaders. Islamic education is expected to be a solution to realize the character formation of the nation's children. Starting from education in the family (informal), institutional institutions (formal) and learning groups in the community (non-formal). All of these are the main forms of capital in the effort to form the nation's character.
