Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of semantic features of phraseological units that denote a person’s name in the lexical system of the Ukrainian language. The paper substantiates the determining factors of phraseological units with this anthroponymic component, which determines the specifics of their functioning, the division into semantic groups, highlights the most important characteristics of these phraseologies, analyzes the polysemy of phraseological units, identifies mechanisms for representing human characteristics and human, as part of phraseology. Each sphere of human life and activity is represented by several semantic themes, which can be used to determine the nature of the structuring of the whole system of phraseological units with an anthroponymic component. The semantic structure ofthese units can be simple, unambiguous and complex, ambiguous. That is why the task of establishing systemic connections within a selected array of units is important for the multifaceted study of phraseological units with the anthroponymic component «Human name». The selection of material by semantic subgroups will allow to show the richness and diversity of this powerful phraseological layer in the Ukrainian language and to reveal the greatest representation in a particular concept of the analyzed units. Phraseological semantics is determined by the nature of participation and interaction of components in creating a holistic generalized-figurative meaning, it can be represented as a set of ordered semantic elements – seven, correlated with certain properties of objects and phenomena, although there is no direct correspondence between the elements of denoted and denominator, the sign is marked by the asymmetry of its exponential and semantic structure. Thus, phraseological unit has an elusive plural of additional semantics, which distances its meaning from the primary. In the semantic transformation of phraseological units there is a symbolization of their components, which exhaust their functions, cease to be an expression of absolute singularity and acquire connotative meaning. This feature is inherent in most phraseological units, which are part of the selected subgroups and will be discussed below.
