Abstract
Those dying suddenly on a background of a history of epilepsy (SUDEP) are seen frequently in the coronial setting. Issues around death certification will be discussed, along with the approach to the post-mortem examination, purported mechanisms of death in SUDEP and the emerging role of genetic studies in epilepsy related deaths.
