Abstract

The Coordinating Council of Women Historians and the Association of Black Women Historians jointly sponsored a roundtable on affirmative action at the January 1998 meeting of the American Historical Association in Seattle, Washington. The panelists whose contributions are published here deal with the historical origins of affirmative action, its effect on government employment of black and white women, and the current situation for black women in the historical profession.
