Abstract
The electric power steering system (EPS) is the steering system that depends on the power of the motor to provide an assisted torque. This paper proposes the method of parameters design for the new ideal characteristic curve that can be applied to the column type EPS. ADAMS dynamic simulation software is used to build the vehicle model, it establishes the front/rear suspension, steering system, front and rear wheels, including vehicle multi-body dynamics simulation model in ADAMS/car. This paper also finishes the control model of the control strategies and controller design based on the new electric power steering system assisted characteristic curves in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, the simulation results combining with these two systems demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of our control strategies and the method of new curve parameters design. The electric power steering system is the development direction of the vehicle steering system, especially for the new energy vehicles.
