Abstract

Carbon monoxide induces both respiration and carbon dioxide production in washed cell suspensions of the two methane-oxidizing bacteriaMethylomonas albus (BG8) andMethylosinus trichosporium (OB3B). The ability of these organisms to oxidise carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide was confirmed by the use of tracer techniques.
