Abstract
We report a new phenomenon, namely, that upon cooling the valency of the rare-earth ion goes from one value to another at a characteristic temperature which upon further cooling returns to the original value at another characteristic temperature. We call this happening as the boomerang valence phenomenon which occurs because of our invention of a new order parameter.
