With a crop around 185 million tons in 2016/ 2017, South American soybeans production represents more than half world production (53%), of which 60% is grown in Brazil, 30% in Argentina and 10% in Paraguay with some in Uruguay and Bolivia (Oil World Annual, 2017)
Soybean production increased nearly twofold in the past seven years with Brazilian crop rising from 57 million tons in 2008/2009 to about 113 million tons during the same period (Oil World Annual, 2017)
