Abstract

A look at the University of Iowa Libraries' OASIS system provides one perspective on the treatment of serials in an online public access catalog. This article describes "standard NOTIS" as well as local features which are the result of customization of the NOTIS software and local decisions on the use of fields in bibliographic and holdings records. Specific serial indexing and display problems are identified and local solutions to these problems are discussed.
