Abstract
Based on studies of empirical research literature and reports, this chapter aims to give an overview of the new generation of migrant workers in China and explain the dynamics of domestic rural-urban migration in the labour market. The questions that this chapter will address are: What is the position of the migrant workers in the overall social status of China? What are the characteristics of the new generation of migrants as compared to the older generation? How do these characteristics influence the labour market and the economy in China and create ambiguous migrant identities?
