EDITOR,--Peter Mackenzie reports a survey of anaesthetists in training that asked about the new deal.1 This survey does no more than show junior doctors' apathy and misconceptions about the new deal in general and shift systems in particular. Less than a tenth of the respondents were working partial shifts, full shifts, or hybrid rotas, and only a quarter had had experience of them.
