Abstract

EDITOR,--In December 1993 all 25 anaesthetic registrars and senior house officers at Glasgow Royal Infirmary answered a questionnaire after working shifts compatible with the new deal for three months. The trainee department was fully staffed. Only two respondents wished to continue working such shifts, which were consequently rejected. In November 1994 a similar questionnaire was sent to the 1725 members of the group of anaesthetists in training of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland.
