Abstract

Muslims in the present era are facing extremely difficult situations worldwide. The condition of Muslims is pitiable. Islam, because it came to unify all of humanity around the central concept of monotheism and to unite scattered tribes, showed the world an exemplary form of humanity, where people started sacrificing their lives for each other and began considering spending on each other as their fortune. The teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had such an impact that all Muslims became like one body, each part strengthening the other. However, why is it that all Muslims are at odds with each other in the present era? The nation that was supposed to be the cornerstone for spreading the message of Islam throughout the world is now itself plagued by division and discord. In countries where Muslims are a minority, they face extreme oppression and injustice. Every day, Muslims are harassed in new ways, sometimes by enacting new laws to label Muslims as terrorists, and sometimes by posing them as a threat to the security of the country. Additionally, there are countless other calamities that have made the Muslim Ummah (community) distressed today. This is a vast topic with various aspects, and it is difficult to cover all these aspects in one article. However, one of the burning reasons for the present era's turmoil is social media, which is hollowing out the Muslim community from within. Negative aspects of social media are discussed under this heading, followed by a discussion on the need for the services of Islamic jurisprudence scholars in the future.
