Abstract

AbstractThere exists an abundance of sources of renewable clean energy at the Emirate of Ajman. Renewable energy resources have been assessed and showed a significant amount of potential for solar and wind energy at the Emirate of Ajman. There are no specific studies found to evaluate the available renewable energy resources at Ajman as individuals. This amount of available alternative energy can meet the present and future energy demand for this Emirate and could well be a source of clean energy to other surrounding Emirates. Feasibility of utilising the solar and wind energy has been discussed as well as how these resources can be used to enhance the Emirates vision and efforts to achieve their target for sustaining green and sustainable buildings infrastructure. Smart technology is also discussed, exploring the fact that this technology can support a combination of green-sustainable-smart buildings for efficient energy building performance. Societal expectations for comfort, liveability and demographic adaptability are at the heart of any architectural and structural design concepts and programmes. The chapter also discusses the principle of considering self-powered buildings by implementing renewable energy, energy-saving technology controlled by artificial intelligence and smart technology. Key performance factors for proper energy management are the solution for the resulted challenges when implementing the presented ideas for the transition process. The utilisation of eco-cordial materials and innovative procedures will result in optimised energy performance and a perpetual carbon dioxide monitoring with the latest commissioning quantifications and verification processes. Automated remote and control systems with expanding incorporation of digital communications are one of the solutions.
