Abstract
Over the past three decades we have seen advancements in computer technology that unquestionably have been phenomenal. No other technological development has had so great an impact on our everyday lives in such a short period of time. During this period, for example, we have seen computer hardware development advance to the point that we now debate the merits of a variety of fourth generation computer hardware concepts. Yet, during this same period, advancements in computer personnel research have not advanced beyond the first generation or initial plateau of sophistication. The most perplexing computer personnel problem we face today is the problem of personnel motivation.
