Abstract

ABSTRACT The nectary epithelia of Cynanchum vincetoxicum cover cavities formed between the base of the corolla and the gynostegium, and they are in open contact with the stigmatic chambers. In addition to sugars, insoluble substances are secreted, presumably mainly lipidie in nature. The wall of epithelial cells at the apical dome is traversed by channellike structures. The mitochondria are partly aggregated into large complexes. Golgi apparatus and ER are well developed and may participate in the secretory process, although unequivocal evidence is lacking.
