Abstract

ABSTRACTCollaboration between professional school counselors and clinical mental health counselors is vital for addressing the mental health needs of students. This article discusses the mental health issues faced by students, how they adversely affect student performance, and the burnout that professional school counselors may experience due to the lack of needed resources to serve the students adequately. Recommendations for collaboration are provided for school and clinical mental health counselors to implement school-based mental health (SBMH) services, including leadership, role definition, and professional development.
