Filmmaker and doctor Chuck Davis follows urban planner Tim Beatley as they visit projects that represent a range of scales, from green walls and rooftop gardens to greenways for metropolitan commuting, restored waterfronts and urban forests. They talk with the professionals who have guided these initiatives and local residents who use these places, care for them, and teach others about them. Within this context, the importance of connecting children with nature is one of the film’s main themes, communicated through interviews with Richard Louv and Stephen Kellert and examples of children engaged in community projects to understand and protect the urban nature around them. ...
