2 Methods and Results 2.1 The experiment on purification capacity The tank on the left contains green algae is always clean because we thought that some purifying effect is working in the tank. We researched on the changes in the density of NO3 and NH4 by putting green algae in tank A and putting Egeria densa in tank B, and putting no plants in tank C. (figure 2) As a result of this research, we assumed that green algae have a tendency to absorb NH4 before absorbing NO3.
