Abstract

Hangzhou released a video “Wave Rider” for the Asian Games. It presents the scenery, appearance and highlights of the city, and publicizes rapidly and widely the city’s sports and culture. Based on the video, the study analyzes the role of multimodal symbols such as words, pictures and images from the aspects of reproduction, interactive and composition meaning based on the theory of visual grammar, and in-depth investigates the construction of image and culture, so as to promote the dissemination of Hangzhou’s urban culture, and to strengthen the city’s self-confidence and the country’s self-confidence.
