Abstract

The Jiles-Atherton (JA) model is a physics-based model which translates into a simple first order differential equation with five material constants known as the JA parameters. However, JA parameters identified from the saturated B-H loop cannot predict the inner loops accurately which poses a major hindrance for its use in the Finite Element (FE) based simulations. In this work, we have proposed a new approach which assumes one of the JA parameters to be a function of magnetic field intensity H or magnetic flux density B and requires the knowledge of inner loops. The improvement in the accuracy of the modified JA model has been demonstrated by comparing its predictions with the measurements and one of the already published works.
