Abstract
With the death of Adriano Olivetti in 1960 after his defeat in the political election of 1958, the experience of the Movimento Comunità comes to a close. In 1962, it transforms in substance into the Adriano Olivetti Foundation. The political legacy at the same time becomes a cultural legacy, with the particular characteristic of even this being misunderstood, undervalued, and distorted. The unconscious or ideologically motivated misunderstanding (which is summarized in the chapter) had started in 1945 with the publication of “L’ordine politico delle Comunità”. From the 1960s until today, the work has been subjected to a series of instrumentalizations or underestimations of the theoretical depository of Adriano Olivetti’s thought, which could lead to affirming the necessity of his re-evaluation. This idea was also brought forward by a recent rebirth of the Edizioni di Comunità, founded in 1946 by Adriano Olivetti, and by other initiatives promoted by the still active Adriano Olivetti Foundation, but the forms of discussion remain of the vaguely cultural type instead of theoretical-philosophical and practical-political.
