Abstract

Commutation relations between charges and current divergences are sandwiched between the vacuum and the spin-zero meson states. Neglecting continuum states in saturating the commutators. and making consistently an unsubtracted pole ansatz for the various matrix elements of divergences of currents according to PCAC (PCVC), the implications of these equations are studied. We obtain: a) a set of equations that has already been derived from current algebra, if supplemented by the same additional assumptions; b) an expression for the parameter γ which relates the SU 3 - and chiral symmetry breaking part in the Hamiltonian, and c) a sum rule for the weak decay constants of the mesons. The formulas derived from the commutation relations are shown to be valid for arbitrary momenta of the particles.
