Abstract

In the next century, the media industry will be affected by regulation, technological change, internationalization, and structural changes that are taking place today. Regulatory changes will lead to consolidation, and giant conglomerates will dominate the industry. Consolidation will lead to shifts in market shares. The big winners are likely to be the software producers, the entertainment companies, and the companies that produce services that will now, because of these vast changes, have multiple buyers. This presentation comes from The Media Industry conference held in New York, New York, on January 31 - February 1, 1996.
