Abstract
For years, international human rights organizations have recommended measures to reduce overcrowding in prisons. The COVID 19 pandemic found places of detention with inadequate spaces, insufficient medical services facilities, lack of reintegration services and, especially, a systemic overcrowding of penitentiaries. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation in prisons extended to the health of detainees. Overcrowding and unhealthy prison conditions have made them a high risk of contagion.
