Abstract
The author uses Winnicott's theory involving transitional objects, the therapeutic value of play, and the vital role of danger to elucidate the psychotherapeutic aspects of medication visits. A case vignette illustrates growth of the possibility of play in the course of visits whose overt agenda is "meds only."
