Abstract

ABSTRACT The concept of simple living in Kampung Naga village in Tasikmalaya is interesting to study, because it shows the quality of social relations between humans and nature; and humans and humans. For the community, the concept of a simple life becomes an inseparable socio-cultural aspect in their lives, because it is based on a belief in the meaning of a better and more effective life. This study focused on the meaning of maintaining the philosophy of life and simplicity that could bring pleasure. This study was conducted in Kampung Naga village, Tasikmalaya, Indonesia. This study was qualitative research using interview, documentation and observation in collecting data. The results showed that meaningfulness in maintaining the philosophy of life of simplicity brings the pleasures of life for the community in Kampung Naga practically into mechanical solidarity based on the traditions, religion, and habits of the people in Kampung Naga. The simple life philosophy of the Kampung Naga community is a concept of life in achieving pleasure which later becomes a collective consciousness in the manifestation of socio-cultural citizenship in Indonesia. Simplicity in Kampung Naga community is a social fact that shows the socio-cultural existence of citizenship in Indonesia in the simplicity of life both in livelihood, entertainment and food and clothing needs. Maintaining simplicity in achieving pleasure in Kampung Naga community is a meeting-point between moral values, religion and culture which later became a living reference for the community. This study contributes to the development of socio-cultural aspects in the study of Citizenship Education, so that they can strengthen the construction of a meaningful philosophy of life in terms of Educational and Cultural Research.
