Abstract
The Marine Technology Society's Third Annual Memorial Lecture was given by John C. Whitaker, undersecretary of the Department of the Interior, at the opening of the MTS conference on September 10.The presentation was in honor of the late William T. Pecora, former Director of the U.S. Geological Survey. Whitaker reviewed Pecora's accomplishments as a scientist and administrator and discussed his conservation philosophy and its relationship to the current energy supply problem.
