Abstract

Specimens from natural populations of Milium effusum were analysed for their flavonoid contents. Four major flavonoids were commonly found and these were identified as quercetin 3- O-rutinoside, quercetin 3- O-glucoside, kaempferol 3- O-rutinoside and kaempferol 3- O-glucoside. In addition, most populations showed some other flavonoids which were present in trace amounts. Miliumis rare amongst the grasses in having flavonols as the major leaf flavonoids.
