Abstract

This paper discusses the issues surrounding a campaign against the Indian Government's decision to dissolve the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation (MSFC). With this, the MSFC is then planning to lease large plots of its land to big undertakings, landlords and companies. Also many powerful politicians have joined the fray and occupied large plots of land to further their political gain. This is in sharp contrast to the purpose for which the land was acquired. This will dispossess the adivasis who have been living there from much before the relevant corporations came into existence. Around 200 adivasis have been evicted from the wastelands that they had been surviving on for two decades.
