Abstract

Research Article| October 01 2015 The Magical Buttplug and the Phantom Child Michelle Handelman Michelle Handelman Michelle Handelman (MFA, Bard College) is an artist and filmmaker whose work examines identity and desire from a queer feminist perspective. She is a Guggenheim Fellow and has received many awards including grants from Art Matters, NYFA, Creative Capital MAP Fund, and NYSCA. Her latest project Irma Vep, The Last Breath was on exhibition at the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington, Seattle from July to October, 2015. She is an associate professor in the Department of Film, Media, and Performing Arts at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
