Abstract

This paper describes the links between the locations of parcel service companies and the locations of their clients in the Paris Region. Several factors influence the location strategies of parcel service companies: the proximity to clients is one of these factors. After identifying the major clients of parcel transport services, I conducted a comparative analysis of their location with that of the parcel service terminals in Ile-de-France. This study shows that parcel service terminals tend to locate in close proximity to the main industrial parks and business clusters in which their main customers (shippers) are located.
