Abstract

The thinking computer is a popular theme in science fiction. No such machine yet exists. Computer Scientists disagree on the possibility of ever programming the computer to think or at least simulate human thought patterns. Until such time that the computer will have been programmed for the capability of human style mental activity, the debate will remain unresolved. For now, a good place to start is to break the basic ingredients of computer programming and human reasoning down to their respective lowest denominators and then draw a comparison between the two.
