I never expected to see anything about hacking at grocery store. But there, among tabloids in checkout line, was the most useful magazine you will buy this year: The Practical Guide to Life Hacks. This fifteen-dollar glossy had articles on how to love your job, twenty-six household tips to save money, a sixty-second fitness regime, and secrets of happy families. The content of magazine was not that different from that of Martha Stewart Living, sitting next to it. Self-help has long been a staple of checkout line. But life hacks next to candy bars? How had this happened?
