Abstract

Abstract This essay serves as a rejoinder to the four commentaries on my work concerning Confucian liberalism. I appreciate this opportunity to elucidate the primary objective of the book, which is to formulate a normatively appealing version of Confucian liberalism through a fresh interpretation of Mou Zongsan’s legacy from a comparative perspective. In addition to clarifying the methodological considerations and addressing certain key topics that remained unclear or unexplored in the book, I aim to illuminate the features of Taiwan's constitutional democracy and civic culture from the standpoint of Confucian liberalism.
