Abstract

In this outline of Labour's defence and security policy Dr David Clark castigates the government for what Labour sees as Treasury‐led cuts which have little bearing on the current and changing tasks and needs of Britain's defence. He puts the case for a comprehensive Defence Review to which the Labour Party is fully committed to take into account the changes in the security environment in the post‐Cold War world. After setting out the criteria for Labour's defence policy. Dr Clark concludes in that the Government has failed to face up to the challenges of this new environment and has let down the armed forces who have served this country so well.
