Abstract
Almost simultaneously, Gosta Lundstrom and Norman Perrin wrote books with the same title and the same basic undertaking, reviewing and analyzing the interpretations of NT scholars concerning the Kingdom of God in the teachings of Jesus. Reimarus began correctly by noting that Jesus nowhere explained what the Kingdom of Heaven was or in what it consisted. Reimarus' claim that Jesus as well as his Jewish contemporaries expected the near establishment of the political nation of Palestine as the Kingdom of God has received more support in this chapter. This does not mean that all NT teaching about the Kingdom of God had only this meaning, but the percentage of references for which the nationalistic meaning was clear was high enough to justify further consideration of sabbatical eschatology in relationship to a certain geographic area in the Near East as the Kingdom of God.Keywords: Jesus; Kingdom of God; Kingdom of Heaven; Palestine; Reimarus
