Abstract
The possibility of using particle sizes analysis to examine the route of a phase transformation in a crystal slurry is discussed. Some results for the IV → III transition in aqueous slurries of ammonium nitrate crystals illustrate the viability of the technique. In particular, the operation of both solid-state-and solvent-mediated routes is identified depending on the transformation temperature.
