Abstract
Recognition and understanding of the interconnectedness of the world and the complex web of global issues can have a positive effect on an individual’s belief in their ability to navigate and make a positive impact on global issues. However, past literature is not clear about how this relationship may be affected by a mindset characterized by openness, empathy, and respect for diverse perspectives and cultures. This study fills this gap in the literature by examining the interactive relationship of global mindedness and global awareness in explaining variation in global self-efficacy. Our results suggest a strong, robust, and positive interactive effect in some but not all countries with our empirical models explaining as much as two-fifths of the total variation in global self-efficacy. Educational implications and suggestions for future research are discussed.
