Abstract
This paper presents an overview of the Internet Library of Early Journals project (ILEJ): a collaborative digitisation project undertaken by the University Libraries of Leeds, Oxford, Birmingham, and Manchester, UK. ILEJ was funded under the UK Electronic Libraries programme, and the project ran from 1996 to 1998. The ILEJ project has made available over 120,000 digitised images from selected 18th and 19th century journals, through a web interface.
