Abstract

AbstractBy measuring the temperature dependence of fluorescence intensities and lifetimes a principal difference in the quenching behaviour of thioindigo with aliphatic and aromatic protic compounds is observed. From absorption and IR spectra, an interaction in the groundstate between thioindigo and phenol has to be assumed. Using various substituted phenols the influence of α‐electron density on complex formation is shown.
