Abstract

The interaction force between a spherical, incoherent particle and a triple line or a quadruple point in a polycrystalline structure is calculated. The effect of such particles on grain growth stagnation is then calculated when the interaction force between particles, and grain boundaries, triple lines and quadruple points contribute to the stagnation. The results of the calculation compare very well with results obtained by computer simulations of the stagnation process and also with earlier estimates.
