The integrated project for the post-earthquake rebuilding of Castelluccio of Norcia: procedures, techniques, implementation

Abstract

After the seismic events of 2016 that have almost entirely destroyed the village of Castelluccio di Norcia, the Extraordinary Commissioner, the Special Office Reconstruction Umbria and the Municipality of Norcia have identified in the reconstruction of the village one of the priority and urgent needs of the community: the village will be, therefore, rebuilt as quickly as possible. This paper illustrates the procedure defined for the unitary reconstruction of Castelluccio, a procedure based, moreover, on the application of a seismic isolation platform extended to the entire old town and which constitutes an original, innovative and effective method for the integrated reconstruction of an entire village with peculiar characteristics.
