Abstract

Filling a narrow crack with reversibly or irreversibly adsorbed inhibitor is analyzed. The calculated characteristic time of the process can be used in selecting regimes and evaluating the effectiveness of inhibiting corrosion cracks. The regularities revealed in analyzing the dynamics of irreversible inhibitor adsorption can be used in estimating an electrochemical reaction rate in cracks. A possibility of inhibiting the corrosion cracking of steels by slowing down their hydrogen adsorption is discussed.
