Abstract

We analyze in this paper the influence of modifying the MEA (MonoEthanolAmine) concentration, from 25 % to 32 %, on the performances of the coal-fired TPP with CCS (CO2 Capture and Storage) by means of a validated numerical modeling of a coal-fired TPP (Thermal Power Plant) and the simulations in the HYSYS software based on an experimental CO 2 post-combustion capture installation. The computations show an increase both in the gross and net power. The gross efficiency of the coal-fired TPP with CCS raised from 37.28 % to 38.45 % and the net efficiency raised from 31.54 % to 32.67 %, the reference TPP without CCS having a power at the generator clamps of 600 MW and a gross efficiency of 45 %.
