Abstract

Numerical method was an important means of studying disc separator's interior flow field for optimizing their design. While it reduced the required testing time and costs. Based on the VOF model, the discrete phase model, N-S equations and standard k-ɛ model, the disc separator's interior flow field was simulated. The simulation results showed that: the larger the radius of the center hole the better separation, but the waste of some oil flowed away by water; the entrance location had no effect on the oil-water separation, so the seeper problem at the entrance can be solved by changing the direction of the entrance speed.
