Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of Orem's self-care theory for the comprehensive life quality of patients with congestive heart failure. Methods A total of 90 patients with congestive heart failure were randomly divided into control group and observation group with 45 cases in each group.The control group was adopted the routine nursing mode and the observation group was intervened by the nursing mode with the guiding of the Orem's self-care theory.MLHFQ scale, WHOQOL-100 scale and Zung scale were used to assess the patients respectively 1 and 3 months before and after nursing intervention. Results The MLHFQ scale scores of 1 and 3 months of observation group after intervention were significantly lower than those of control group(average P<0.05), WHOQOL-100 scale score was higher than that of control group(average P<0.05), Zung scale score and positive rates were lower than those of control group(average P<0.05). Conclusions Orem's self-care theory can improve the quality of congestive heart failure patients' life. Key words: Orem's self-care theory; Congestive heart failure; Comprehensive life quality
