Abstract

The article examines the theoretical foundations of the formation of the strategy of neo-protectionism in commodity markets, examines the positive and negative effects of such a policy. The mechanisms of neoprotectionism in modern commodity markets are outlined, and its factors are singled out. The environment of neo-protectionism policy formation, which is determined by the agreements of the World Trade Organization and the unfair competition of multinational enterprises, is analyzed. The WTO agreements, which establish the rules and conditions of trade at the international level, together with the activities of multinational enterprises, reveal the need to find alternative instruments of economic policy at the macro level, contributing to the acquisition of new competitive advantages and the maintenance of already acquired positions. The impact of neoprotectionism on the formation of strategies for trade and economic cooperation, international relations and foreign economic activity is determined. Keywords: neoprotectionism, strategy, trade and economic cooperation, international trade, globalization, international relations, trade policy, foreign economic activity.
