Abstract
This study aims to identify the influence of managerial competence and achievement motivation on the leadership effectiveness of high school principals in Medan City. In this study, the population used amounted to 231 people and the sample selected was 144 people using the Cochran formula. Questionnaires with Likert scale are used as data collection tools. Path analysis is used to analyze research data. The results of the analysis showed that managerial competence and achievement motivation had a significant direct influence on leadership effectiveness, with path coefficients of 0.164 and 0.189 respectively. These findings suggest that to improve the leadership effectiveness of principals, measurable efforts are needed, focusing on improving managerial competence and achievement motivation, which are important factors influencing effective leadership.
