Abstract

Considered the history of the formation and development of design in Ukraine. Analyzed influence of globalization processes on the spread of mass fashion, unification of taste preferences of consumers in different countries, the problem of cultural identity. It is noted that before the artists, designers raises important task to avoid dissolution of their culture in the mass, introduce design innovations taking into account principles of shaping and semantics of traditional art.Globalization can lead to the unification of society, the loss of the possibility of individual development of individual national cultures. There is a problem of opposing the individual, the authentic, the traditional and the mass.There are now about 75 artistic higher education institutions in Ukraine. Still, the issue of improving the quality of design education is very relevant. It is young designers, architects and fashion designers who are the main driving force in the search for new ways of developing Ukrainian culture.Copying only the outward features of tradition does not contribute to the development of national design. After all, in order to replace the re-production of "museum exhibits" it is necessary to create new modern things while preserving the essential cultural features.To a higher quality level Ukrainian fashion is raised by the attempts of designers to explore and use the basic principles, patterns that are the basis of folk art, traditional modeling of household objects and decor. In general, there is a renaissance mood, and there is an emphasis on the need to explore and use authentic features
